Appliteck is a custom machine shop in Northern Ontario who has now released a line of solid, durable horse stalls that will keep your horses safe and secure.

Appliteck’s owner and founder, Lorne Byers, began his career in the custom machining industry with his successful completion of Fleming College’s Mechanical Engineering – Tool and Die Program with honours in 1989.

After graduating, Lorne accepted a position with Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. After a short period of time working as a Print Room Operator, he instinctively began operating and optimizing CNC machines. Lorne’s drive to succeed eventually led to his promotion to the position of Project Engineer for Capital Equipment. In this position Lorne used his experiences to identify, select, justify and implement the purchases and start-ups of all manufacturing equipment within Husky’s Mold, Hot Runner, and Machine Manufacturing divisions.

In April 2000, Lorne moved his family back to his hometown of Powassan and began a new project under the name of Appliteck Inc. The company’s name is derived from Application Technologies. Appliteck’s initial endeavor was that of an Independent Application Turnkey Engineer helping UBJ Boehringer and Makino Machine Tool Company to update/install production run machining equipment in the die mold, aerospace and automotive industries.

In 2007, Lorne took Appliteck off the road and set up shop in an empty unit of an industrial building in Powassan. The first pieces of equipment to be installed included a lathe, mill and grinder. In September 2007, the first employee of Appliteck Inc. was hired.

Today, Appliteck employs ten full-time positions, two part-time positions, and is always excited to give apprentice machinists an opportunity to gain experience in their trade. Thirty percent of Appliteck’s full-time employees have accumulated over twenty years of experience in the machining industry.
